Music Reunites

  • New Orleans United States (map)

Many migrant families have been separated by the United States Government as they cross the border, even though the Trump Administration has put out a year-long executive order to stop the separation of them. Children who are separated from their parents are detained in cages and don’t even have the simple luxury to call their relatives for comfort. Even state officials are not allowed to see these detention centers. Having children live in such a terrible environment is horrifying and no one should face the treatment these children have already received and endured.

Our music event will be held at New Orleans where musicians from all around the country will gather and play pop and other sorts of music on multiple instruments. Music can be understood as a “universal language” and people from all around the world can understand what music means to them. With this concert, we hope to have these children feel reunited with their culture and families through our music playing. The proceeds raised from this event will be donated to Another Kind of Girl Collective (AKGC), which currently works with community organizers the serves migrant children, particularly girls, who are vulnerable to the lack of access to education, abuse, gender-based violence, and early marriage. Some of the proceeds will also be used to benefit Syrian refugee girls in Jordan, in light of the recent aftermath since the United States military pulled out.
